This year, don’t just open presents. Start up a scavenger hunt! Kids of any age won’t mind a bit of work when a memorable series of clues leads them through the home to the gift they’ve been waiting for.
Grab a few Post-it® Super Sticky Notes to write the clues on. Clues should be linked to memorable places or objects throughout the house, eventually leading to the gift’s hiding spot. If you have more than one gift, try hiding different presents along the way with clues that eventually lead to the most important one.
Route the hunt throughout the home, and vary the hiding spots. Place a clue outside a cupboard or in a coat’s pocket. Maybe tuck one behind a picture frame. The trickier the hiding spot, the better. Write the clues so they correspond to their hiding spots, but don’t shy away from using your craftiest language.
Tip: For those with younger kids, use Post-it® Flags to help guide the hunters toward the next clue.
Once the scavenger hunters reach their final destination, leave one more note on the present so they know it’s done.
Making the scavenger hunt may be a bit more time consuming than simply gathering in the living room for gift-opening, but we think this way is much more fun and memorable.
